Central Trinidad Experience
We visit Central Trinidad, the hub of the East Indian community. Our first stop is a lively, colourful fresh produce market and bazaar street. Taste and smell the fruits, the curries and experience the pulse of the people! Next we pay a visit to at an authentic family owned pottery where we witness the production of “deyas”and other clay works. Our journey then takes us to a remote East Indian community where we visit a Hindu temple with an 85 foot Hanuman Murti (largest statue of the Hindu deity outside of India) Here we also visit the adjoining Ashram and have some interaction with Ashram devotees/ pundit. Not far away is the East Indian Museum, another interesting stop. Our tour concludes at the picturesque “Temple in the Sea”, which offers some wonderful photo opportunities.
(Includes transportation and guide fees, and water on bus)
Please note that we can accommodate the visit with the Hindu pundit on this day, which according to your program was supposed to be in connection with a visit to Penal (Deep SOUTH of the island). We do not advise this, as we do not want to drive to the same Ashram twice. So we are suggesting another combination (see Mon 4 Nov)
Day 3 Puja & Children’s Home Visit

Today, we attend a traditional Puja ritual in Central Trinidad. We are enjoying an authentic vegetarian lunch; we visit a children’s home (orphanage) to offer a donation and meet with the children.

Day 4 Island Tour

This morning we head to the southern half of the island to visit the world famous “Pitch Lake”. We enjoy the South of the island and its rolling hills. In La Brea we visit our most famous attraction - this “Eighth Wonder of the World” as locals call it, is the largest commercial deposit of natural asphalt and its pitch is mined and exported to countries all over the world. It is the only one of its kind in the world.
We then make our way further south to the town of Penal where we visit the Pattiram Trace temple which was built around a Shiva Lingum or “wishing stone”. It is said that the Shiva Lingum has special powers, which can reward the prayers of devotees – and there are only 3 more “Wishing stones” in the world.
